People will be gathering from all over the country to learn about their TREAT ancestors, to renew friendships and make new friends. Most, if not all, TREATs in this country are descendants of the 17th century colonial immigrants to Connecticut. Funeral services for Otherine Nell Treat of Searcy were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2002, at Searcy Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dickie Sutter officiating. Song selections included "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art," and "Another Spring Time," sung by Tommy Lyons, and "Angels In Waiting," and "If I Had Only Known." Pallbearers were Kendal Reaves, Kelly Chasteen, Steve Chasteen, Douglas Treat, Johnny Wood, and Wade Williams. Interment was in Roosevelt Cemetery in Judsonina. Arrangements were by Searcy Funeral Home

Alice Lee Burket Steed, 98, died Thursday, March 14, 2002. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors include several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2002, at the Bradford Methodist Church. Interment will be at Carver Cemetery under the direction of Powell Funeral Home of Bald Knob-Judsonia.

Venita Watkins King, 80, of Judsonia, died Monday, June 25, 2001. She was born September 15, 1920, in Mountain View, to Willard and Viola Treat Watkins. She was retired from General Industries, and was a member of Dripping Springs Assembly of God Church. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Willard Rueon King of Judsonia; two sons, Charles King and Milford Wayne King, both of Judsonia; one sister, Lillian Dill of Little Rock; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Thurman and Troy Watkins; and four sisters, Gracie Williams, Hazel Davis, Bessie Matlock, and Syble Harris. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Dripping Springs Assembly of God Church, with burial at Henderson Cemetery in Pangburn. Visitation is scheduled to be tonight from 5 to 9. Arrangements are under the direction of Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia.

James Franklin Treat, age 81, of Judsonia, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009. He was born Jan. 22, 1928 in Judsonia to the late Thomas A. and Cora Bell Watkins Treat. Mr. Treat was a U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from the American Standard Corporation, a member of Bethel Grove Church of Christ and a cattle rancher at the time of his death. In the past he served for many years as a Deacon and as head of the Church Benevolent Committee.

He is survived by his wife, Glorianne Treat of the home; two daughters, Paula A. Treat of Evansville, Ind. and Connie L. Treat of Searcy;
four grandchildren, James, Valerie, Andy and Whitney; three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Marcus and Carter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold and Jack Treat. To all who knew him, James was special, but to his family,
he was so much more. He was the vein of gold running through their foundation, their inspiration. The twinkle in his eyes was the best present any could hope for. He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009 at Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob with interment in Providence Cemetery.
